Free assessment
We inspect the paint under light, discuss how the car is used and agree what it needs.

Wash and decontamination
A hand wash and decontamination removes dirt, fallout and bonded contaminants before any product touches the paint.

Paint correction where needed
Swirl marks, water-spot etching and oxidation are corrected so the coating does not seal them in.

Surface preparation
The paint is cleaned of polishing residue so the coating bonds to bare clear coat.

Coating application
KlarCOAT is applied by hand, typically in two layers with setting time between them.

Ceramic, graphene or PPF: which one does your car need?

Ceramic and graphene coatings are thin chemical layers that add gloss, repel water and make washing easier. Paint protection film (PPF) is a physical film that resists stone chips. No coating replaces PPF. Choose by what you need to protect against and how long you plan to keep the car.

How long does ceramic coating last in Singapore?

KlarCOAT Signature Ceramic Treatment lasts about 1 to 2 years with minimal upkeep. Actual life depends on the product, how the car is used, where it is parked, the weather and how it is washed.

Singapore is hard on paint: humidity of 80 to 90 percent, strong UV, heavy rain and bird droppings. A coating does not remove these. It makes them easier to clean off before they damage the paint. Regular maintenance, covered on our coating maintenance page, helps the coating reach the top of its range. Ask for the terms of cover in writing before you commit.

What affects the price of a ceramic coating?

Five things set the price: car size, paint condition, how much correction is needed, the coating line and layers, and any interior add-ons. A new car in good paint needs less preparation than a six-year-old car with swirl marks.

What happens during a Signature treatment, and why does it take hours?

The Signature exterior treatment takes at least 6 man-hours. Most of that time is preparation: washing, decontamination and correction decide how the finished coating looks.

The coating itself goes on in thin layers by hand. Where two layers are suitable, the first is allowed to set before the second. Infrared lamps then cure the coating. We inspect each panel before handover.

The car is worked on in an enclosed, dust-free bay, so dust does not settle into wet coating. Visits are by appointment only.

Do you need paint correction before ceramic coating?

Not always. A coating seals in whatever is on the paint, so visible swirl marks, water-spot etching or oxidation should be corrected first. A new car in clean paint may only need a wash and decontamination.

How many layers of ceramic coating does Klar apply?

Typically two layers where the paint suits it, with setting time between them. The number depends on the package and on the condition of the paint. We confirm the layers in your quote so there is no ambiguity about what you are paying for.

Is ceramic coating worth it for a new car?

Often yes, because a new car has the least damage to hide and coating protects it from the start. Whether it is worth it for you depends on how long you will keep the car and how it is parked. We will give a straight answer at the free assessment.

Can I put ceramic coating on myself?

It is possible, but risky. Uneven application can leave high spots that harden into visible patches, and these are difficult to remove. Poor preparation also seals swirl marks under the coating. A workshop bay and curing equipment make a more consistent result.

Does ceramic coating make paint scratch-proof?

No. A ceramic coating adds a hard, slick layer that resists light marring and repels water, but it does not make paint scratch-proof or chip-proof. Paint protection film is the product for stone-chip protection, and we will tell you if your car needs it.

How soon can I wash the car after coating?

Follow the written aftercare you are given at handover, which sets the waiting period for your coating. In general, avoid abrasive washing and harsh chemicals, and use a gentle hand wash with a clean microfibre mitt afterwards. Ask us at handover if you are unsure about anything in the sheet.
