Car Interior Pest Control and Fumigation in Singapore

Klar's interior pest control uses NEA-approved, aviation-grade anti-bacterial fumigation, applied as a fine mist through the cabin after a deep clean. It targets bacteria, persistent odour and pest prevention, including in the aircon system. It is booked as part of, or alongside, a KlarINTERIOR detail.

How it works

  1. 1
    Free assessment

We check for odour, mould, droppings or other signs of pests, and recommend whether fumigation is needed.

  2. 2
    Deep clean first

Seats, carpets and surfaces are cleaned so the treatment reaches the materials, not a layer of dirt.

  3. 3
    Steam sanitisation

Controlled-pressure steam is used on surfaces and vents.

  4. 4
    Fumigation

Anti-bacterial fumigation is applied through the cabin, including the aircon intake.

  5. 5
    Airing and final check

The cabin is aired and inspected, and we tell you any precautions before you drive.

What is anti-bacterial fumigation for a car?

It is a fine, aviation-grade anti-bacterial mist circulated through a closed cabin so it reaches fabric, foam, vents and gaps a cloth cannot reach. The product is NEA-approved. It follows a deep clean, because treating a dirty cabin only masks the problem.

It addresses bacteria and odour at the source, which an air freshener does not.

When does a car need fumigation?

Consider it when there is a persistent musty smell, especially from the aircon, after water ingress or a spill that soaked into the seat, or when there are signs of pests such as droppings. Smoke, pets and shared use also build up odour.

Singapore's humidity makes closed cabins prone to damp odour. If the car smells fine and looks clean, fumigation is not necessary. A routine interior detail is enough.

Fumigation, steam or deep clean: which do you need?

A deep clean removes soil. Steam sanitises surfaces and loosens residue. Fumigation reaches bacteria and odour in materials and vents. They work in sequence, which is why fumigation is normally booked with a KlarINTERIOR detail.

TreatmentBest for
Deep cleanDirt, stains, dust
Steam sanitisationSurfaces, vents, light odour
FumigationBacteria, persistent odour, pest prevention

What are the limits?

Fumigation does not replace repairs. If water is entering the cabin, or the aircon drain is blocked, the odour will return until that is fixed. Deep-set smoke or spill odour in foam may need more than one treatment.

We will tell you at the assessment if the cause is mechanical. Our sister brand Motoserv handles servicing and aircon repairs.

Questions about interior pest control

Is the fumigation safe?

The product is NEA-approved, and the cabin is aired after treatment. We tell you any precautions before you drive. If you carry young children or passengers with respiratory sensitivity, tell us at the assessment so we can advise on timing. Ask us any question about the product before you book.

Does fumigation remove cigarette smoke odour?

It helps, alongside steam, extraction and cleaning of the headlining and seats. Smoke odour is held in porous materials, so severe cases can need more than one treatment. We tell you at the assessment what to expect. Ask us about it at booking so we can allow the time.

Can fumigation get rid of cockroaches or rodents?

It is used for pest prevention in the cabin, not as a guaranteed eradication of an infestation. If you have seen droppings or live pests, tell us at booking and we will advise on the right steps. We would rather be clear about what fumigation can do than overpromise.

Do I need to fumigate every time I detail the interior?

No. Routine interior detailing every 6 to 12 months is enough for most cars. Fumigation is for bacteria concerns, persistent odour or pest signs. We recommend it only where the assessment supports it. A clean cabin that smells neutral does not need it. Tell us what you have noticed and we will say plainly whether fumigation is worthwhile.

Will it fix a musty smell from the aircon?

It can help, and aircon vent cleaning is part of the process. If the smell returns quickly, the cause may be a blocked drain or a dirty evaporator, which needs servicing. Our sister brand Motoserv can look at that. Tell us when the smell appears, for example when the aircon is first switched on.
