Car Coating Maintenance in Singapore: KlarMAINTENANCE
KlarMAINTENANCE is a half-yearly programme for ceramic and graphene coatings. Each visit inspects the coating, restores the hydrophobic top layer with KlarSHIELD, and finishes with a pure-water rinse. A coating that is maintained keeps its water beading and gloss for longer than one that is left alone.

How it works
- 1Coating inspection
We check water behaviour, gloss and any marking, and record the coating condition.

A premium hand wash and decontamination lift the film that dulls a coating.
- 3Spot and stain treatment
Water spots and light marks are treated before the top layer goes on.
- 4KlarSHIELD top layer
KlarSHIELD is applied to restore water repellency.
- 5Pure-water final rinse
The car is rinsed with pure water at about 0 ppm TDS, so nothing dries on the surface.
- 6Cabin cleanup
The interior is vacuumed and tidied, and we note anything to watch before the next visit.
Why does a coating need maintenance?
A coating wears gradually. Washing, UV, rain and road film slowly reduce its slickness and water beading, and bonded contaminants build up on the surface. Maintenance removes that build-up and restores the top layer before the coating itself is affected.
A coating is not a self-cleaning force field, as our guide to washing a coated car puts it. It lasts longest when it is washed correctly and inspected regularly.
What is KlarSHIELD?
KlarSHIELD is Klar's top layer, applied at every KlarMAINTENANCE visit. It restores hydrophobic behaviour and gloss on top of the coating beneath, so the base coating is not worn through doing the work.
It works with KlarCOAT ceramic and KlarGRAPHENE coatings.
Why does the final rinse use pure water?
Singapore tap water carries 80 to 120 ppm of dissolved solids (TDS). When it dries on paint, those minerals stay behind as water spots. Our final rinse uses pure water at about 0 ppm TDS, which dries without leaving residue.

How often should a coating be maintained?
Half-yearly is the programme interval. Cars parked outdoors, driven daily or exposed to trees and bird droppings may benefit from closer attention, and a garaged weekend car from less.
We check the coating at each visit and tell you if the interval should change.
Price
Maintenance is quoted after the free assessment, according to car size and coating condition. The quote is fixed before work starts.
Questions about coating maintenance
How often is KlarMAINTENANCE needed?
The programme is half-yearly. Actual need depends on how the car is parked, driven and washed. We inspect the coating at each visit and advise whether the interval should be shorter or longer for your car. Cars parked outdoors or under trees may need attention sooner.
Can you maintain a coating that was applied elsewhere?
Often, but it depends on the type and condition of the coating, which we cannot judge without seeing it. Book a free assessment and we will tell you honestly whether maintenance will help or the coating has reached the end of its life.
What is the difference between a normal wash and maintenance?
A normal wash removes dirt. Maintenance also inspects the coating, removes bonded contaminants and water spots, applies KlarSHIELD and finishes with a pure-water rinse. It is aimed at restoring the coating, not only cleaning the car. It is aimed at keeping a coating performing between full treatments.
Does maintenance extend the life of a coating?
It helps the coating stay within its rated life, which is about 1 to 2 years for KlarCOAT ceramic and up to 3 to 5 years for KlarGRAPHENE with proper maintenance. It does not extend a coating beyond what the product can do.
Can I wash a coated car myself between visits?
Yes, and gentle hand washing is recommended. Use a pH-neutral shampoo, clean microfibre and no abrasive products, dry with a soft towel, and avoid automatic brush washes. Our article on washing a ceramic-coated car gives the steps. Avoid washing in direct sun, which dries soap on the paint.
